What is AI disclosure?

AI disclosure is telling the recipient that a machine helped produce the words, the image, or the summary. It can be one plain sentence. It is not a claim that a human never looked.

In plain English

Customers get angry when they think they reached you and they reached a script. A line like 'This reminder was drafted with an assistant and checked by the studio' is disclosure. Hiding a chatbot behind a human name is the opposite. Rules for ads and for regulated fields change. This page is not legal advice. If you publish ads, read the current platform rules. Say it early and say it plainly, in the channel the customer is using. A footer on the website does not cover a text message. You do not need a speech. 'This note was drafted with an assistant and checked by me' is enough when it is true. If nobody checked it, do not claim they did.

How an owner would use it

Pick one sentence for emails, one for the website bot, and one for anything public. Put them in the SOP so the draft includes them when you want them. Do not disclose and then skip the human check you promised.

Common mistakes

A footer nobody can see is not disclosure. Pretending the chatbot is 'Sarah at the desk' is a different kind of miss. Do not add a disclosure and keep auto-sending unchecked drafts. Do not copy a legal paragraph you do not understand. Say what happened in a sentence you would say out loud.

A worked example

A wedding photographer

The inquiry reply says an assistant drafted it

This is an illustration, not a customer result. The studio's first reply includes the date the couple asked about, the starting collection they actually offer, and a line that the note was drafted with an assistant and sent by the photographer. The photographer deletes any package the draft invented before it goes out.

Questions owners ask

What is AI disclosure?

It is a plain statement that AI helped create the message or image the person is looking at.

How do I disclose without sounding like a terms page?

Use one short sentence in the voice you already use, and make sure a person still does the check you imply. Put the sentence in the template so it is not optional by accident.

Do I have to disclose every spellcheck?

A grammar pass and a customer-facing bot are not the same moment. Disclose the bot and the messages that were drafted for you when a person would feel misled if you stayed silent. Platform ad rules are separate. Read those rules for ads.
